Forschungsbeitrag zu „Social Process Patterns“ auf der ICIS 2019

Auf der International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in München berichtet SmartHybrid über neue Möglichkeiten für die Gestaltung und Analyse von Geschäftsprozessen unter besonderer Berücksichtigung sozialer Nachhaltigkeit. Dazu präsentiert Thorsten Schoormann den Beitrag „Elevating Social Sustainability in Business Processes: A Pattern-Based Approach”.

Wie können Geschäftsprozesse sozial gestaltet werden, sodass sowohl Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter als auch weitere Personen davon profitieren können? Dieser Frage geht eine aktuelle Studie aus Hildesheim („Process Engineering“) nach, die basierend auf Experteninterviews und einer breiten Literaturanalyse Ansätze für Soziale Prozessmuster vorstellt. Diese Muster enthalten Maßnahmen für bspw. die Einführung sozial-verträglicher Alternativprozesse (z.B. durch die Integration von Fair Trade-Produkten) oder die auf die Individualisierung des Arbeitsplatzes (z.B. Ermöglichung der Integration von Menschen mit Handicap).

Abstract:
In order to face fundamental challenges of our society, sustainability has gained of increased interest for business research and practice. One approach that facilitates transforming businesses into more sustainable entities is business process management (BPM). While previous research on sustainable BPM (e.g., Green BPM) seeks to consider ecological concerns in addition to its economic obligations, social sustainability is mostly neglected in current approaches for BPM. This deficiency hinders businesses in being guided on how to systematically consider social aspects such as fair and healthy working conditions. Accordingly, this study makes use of a process pattern-based approach to provide proven, general solutions for common problems referring to social sustainability. Drawing on a literature review and expert interviews, we present a preliminary set of Socially Business Process Patterns (SBPP). Our contribution highlights best practice-solutions for practitioners and lays the foundation for more research in this field.
